AdGroups are a feature that allows you to break down your campaign into different subsets. At a minimum your Campaign will have one AdGroup, but you can create as many as needed.
AdGroups provide flexibility in campaign management and allows for more targeted advertising strategies within a single campaign.
AdGroup Features
- Serve a specific set of ads.
- Target/exclude a particular audience.
- Target a specific location.
- Run on a custom schedule.
- Measure individual performance for each.
AdGroup Budget Limitations
- The overall campaign budget is shared fluidly among all AdGroups.
- You cannot set separate budgets for individual AdGroups.

For example, if you're hosting a live webinar, you can launch a Website Retargeting Campaign and create an specific AdGroup to:
- Serve specific Ads that promote your upcoming webinar.
- Define a custom AdGroup schedule to stop serving these ads after the Webinar starts, all while maintaining the general campaign running.

- Target the Website Audiences that have visited your webinar landing page and your events pages.
- Target a Contact Audience based on an email list from previous webinar attendees.
- Exclude a Contact Audience based on an email list of the attendees that have confirmed they will attend.
