Web Ad Types and Sizes Supported

Static Image Web Ads

Static Image Web Ads are the most common type of ad. They consist of a single file, and one landing page. They have a static background graphic, a business logo, and a call to action.

Sizes created: 300 x 250, 300 x 600, 728 x 90, 320 x 50, 160 x 600

HTML5 Web Ads

Animated Web Display ads, also known as HTML5 Web Ads, include animations that encourage viewers to interact and engage with the content.

Sizes created: 300 x 250, 300 x 600, 728 x 90, 320 x 50, 160 x 600.

Native Ads

Native Web Ads appear as a part of the design of the web page they’re on. Rather than standing out as an ad, native ads tend to have an editorial look and feel, with a softer selling approach. For example, they can appear as recommended content on news sites.

Sizes created: 600 x 600, 600 x 500, 600 x 315.

Upload your Background Image

Your background image is the visual centerpiece of the ad, which can include product photos, lifestyle imagery, or branded visuals. Choose a high-quality image that aligns with your campaign goals:

  • Product images work well for purchase-focused campaigns.
  • Lifestyle images help build emotional connections for brand awareness.
  • Avoid overlaying text or graphics on images as they may become unreadable or misleading in smaller formats.
  • Use single images rather than collages or composite backgrounds for clarity.
  • Maintain consistency in branding by using colors that align with your visual identity.
  • We recommend uploading a 1000x1000 image to accommodate all sizes, our tool allows you to crop and zoom in.
  • Formats supported are PNG, GIF, JPG, ,SVG or zip.

Optionally, click Expand Image using AI to resize and generate expanded versions of your background image. This tool will extend the width and height of an image while preserving quality. You can pick your preferred variation from three AI-generated options.

Upload your Logo

Upload your Brand Logo in PNG, GIF, JPG, ,SVG or zip format:

  • Use a high resolution logo with clear, vibrant visuals.
  • Maintain consistency in branding by using colors that align with your visual identity.
  • Avoid including text or complex graphics alongside the logo.

Enter the Destination URL and UTM tracking

The Destination URL is the specific web address where customers will be taken when they click on the ad:

  • Do not use redirecting URLs
  • URLs can't direct to a payment processor like PayPal
  • URLs can't direct to a video, for example, a video on NBC.com or Dailymotion

Add UTM Tracking  to trace ad performance in your analytics tools. They are automatically appended to your destination URL so that Google analytics can identify where your visitors came from. Learn more.

  • Title: Grab your visitor’s attention and summarize your ad’s purpose.
  • Description: Include key elements such as the product or service features, benefits, and unique selling points. We recommend keeping this to 70 characters or less.

Organize your ad sets with Ad Labels

Ad Labels help you to organize your creative ads into meaningful groups so that you can easily filter, search, manage, and select ads when creating a campaign without scrolling through multiple rows of ads. We recommend adding ad labels to identify funnel stage, vertical, or product line. Learn more about Ad Labels here.

After creating your ads they will be uploaded to the Ad Library automatically. Your ads will undergo our Ad Review Process to ensure safety and suitability under RollWorks Advertising Policies once you launch your campaign.

FAQ

Can I create a Static, Native and HTML5 ad set simultaneously?

No, when creating ads with the Ad Builder, you will generate one of the following combinations:

  • A Static ad set and a Native ad set.
  • A HTML5 ad set and a Native ad set.

If you want to create an ad set including Static, Native and HTML5:

  • Use the tool to create a set of Static Web Ads + Native Ads.
  • Go back to the tool to create a second time to generate a set of HTML5 Ads by checking the box Enable Animations.
  • Remove the duplicated Native ads from the Ad Library.

Can I create just one individual ad?

When you create ads, the system automatically generates a full set. You can uncheck specific sizes to exclude them; unchecked sizes will appear greyed out and won't be uploaded to the ad library. For optimal campaign performance and reach, we recommend always using all the 6 default sizes generated by the Ad Builder.

Can this tool create native ads for social media or video?

No, if you want to upload Facebook, LinkedIn or Video ads please upload them manually using the Ad Library.

Can I use my own fonts when creating ads?

No, you can only use the fonts available in the ad builder: Arial, Arial Black, Century Gothic, Courier, and Courier New.

Can I download my ads?

No, you can't download the ads directly. However, you can right-click on the image and select Save Image as a workaround (this applies to Image and Native Ads only).
