Prohibited Content & Practices: Misleading or Misrepresentative Content

Ads, landing pages, and websites that intend to deceive users through misleading or irrelevant information about services, products, or businesses are prohibited. All content should be relevant, accurate, informative, and up-to-date and the website must be able to stand by or support its claims.

Examples of content that may be prohibited in relation to misleading or misrepresentative content are outlined below.

 

How to Fix Disapproved Ads

If you received an email with any of the following advertising policy violations, please follow the recommended solutions listed below.

Ad Creative Violations
  • Unverifiable Financial Claims: Ad Creative 
  • Unverifiable Health Claims: Ad Creative
  1. Read the policies listed below to learn about the types of misleading or misrepresentative content that we do not allow on ad creatives.
  2. Upload new ad creatives that contain compliant content.
    • Make sure that your new ads are added to the campaign(s) that you want to launch. This will automatically trigger the new ads into In Review.
Landing Page Violations
  • Unverifiable Financial Claims: Landing Page
  • Unverifiable Health Claims: Landing Page
  1. Read the policies listed below to learn about the types of misleading or misrepresentative content that we do not allow on landing pages. 
  2. Remove non-compliant content from the landing page that you wish to use as your destination URL.
  3. If you’re not able to remove non-compliant content, change your destination URL to drive your target audience to landing pages with compliant content.
    • Once you update your destination URL, your ads will automatically trigger into In Review.

In some cases, you may not be able to continue using RollWorks.

 

Unverifiable Claims

RollWorks will not approve ads or landing pages that use exaggerated or unrealistic promises to promote their product or service or websites that intentionally misrepresent their business. Examples include:

Making unverifiable or false claims in ads or landing pages with regard to products, programs, or offers. 

❌ “Get rich quick” financial programs.

❌ Making unrealistic financial promises or guarantees without a clear refund policy.

❌ Positioning investment opportunities as risk-free.

❌ Exercise or diet programs that claim to speed up or enhance weight loss results in unrealistic timeframes.

❌ Medical products that claim to cure ailments without any verifiable information.

❌ Unverifiable claims in relation to qualifications or certifications held (e.g., someone offering medical information claiming to be a qualified doctor when they are not).

❌ Using staged testimonials or fake reviews.

 

Promoting Inaccessible Offers

Ads that promote or highlight products or offers that are not readily available from the landing page are not eligible to run. This includes: 

❌ Advertising a deal or offer that is no longer available.

❌ Advertising a product that has an incorrect price.

❌ Advertising a product that is no longer stocked or knowingly out of stock.

 

Misrepresentation and Missing Information

RollWorks will not approve websites that intentionally misrepresent their business or use any tactic to falsely enhance the reputation of the business. This includes omitting information or leaving information off of the website intentionally. Some specific examples are:

❌ Websites, ads, or landing pages that imply a false affiliation with a product, service, or individual.

❌ Not disclosing the payment model or method.

❌ Not disclosing full fees associated with a product (e.g., shipping costs or billing-related charges).

❌ Not disclosing interest rates.

❌ Not disclosing late payment fines.

❌ Not disclosing automatic subscription costs.

❌ Not disclosing necessary information when advocating for donations to charities (e.g., not highlighting the charity or tax exemption number for donations to charity).

❌ Not disclosing necessary information when advocating for political donations (e.g., not indicating if a political donation is tax-exempt or not).

❌ Financial service companies that do not disclose legitimate business contact information, such as a brick-and-mortar address.

❌ Financial service companies do not disclose associated fees on the landing page.

Note: Other Financial Disclosure Requirements may apply. 

 

Lead Generation 

RollWorks will not promote lead generation websites. This is defined as websites that have the primary purpose to collect personal information from visitors. Dedicated landing pages that contain a form for visitors to fill out can be approved, but only if it is associated with a business that offers more than lead generation. Any information collected should be necessary for your business operations. For example, RollWorks will approve lead generation forms that allow visitors to:

Fulfill a request.

Contact customer support.

Complete a transaction.

Create an account.

Signup for emails or newsletter programs.
