While we offer several Salesforce Campaign advanced inclusion options, the default setting targeting direct campaign members is most likely the best fit for your needs. You should only consider the other options if you specifically intend to broaden your targeting or expand your list reach.
The Salesforce integration for AdRoll ABM allows you to use Salesforce Campaigns as filters to build your Account Lists, Contact Lists and Workflows. This allows you to build highly segmented lists in AdRoll ABM based on your Salesforce Campaigns members and activate with AdRoll Advertising and orchestration Workflows.
Understanding Campaign Members
Before changing your default advanced inclusion options we recommend understanding if your Salesforce campaigns use Accounts and/or Contacts as Campaign Members.
In Salesforce, Contact-level Campaign Members represent individual people, allowing detailed tracking of specific engagement for personalized marketing. Conversely, Account-level Campaign Members add entire companies, allowing you to target all associated contacts at once for broader, account-based marketing efforts.
SFDC Campaign Account Inclusion Options (Advanced)
This advanced option is available when:
- Building Account Lists
- Building an account-based trigger Workflow, such as Contact Discovery.
When using a Salesforce Campaign as a filter with the Account List Builder or Contact Discovery workflows, you can refine your criteria by selecting between two distinct advanced Account Inclusion Options to determine how accounts are pulled from a Salesforce Campaign:
-
Campaign members only (Recommended): This setting is the primary recommendation for precision targeting. It ensures that the system only adds Accounts that have been specifically and directly enrolled as members of the chosen Salesforce campaign.
-
Process:
- [SFDC Account Campaign Member] -> [AdRoll Account List
- Retrieves and imports only the Account-level Campaign Members explicitly enrolled in the selected campaign.
-
Process:
-
Accounts linked to enrolled contacts: This broader inclusion option identifies and adds any Accounts that are associated with at least one individual contact currently listed as a campaign member in Salesforce.
-
Process:
- [SFDC Contact Campaign Member] -> [Associated Accounts] -> [AdRoll Account List]
- Scans individual contact-level campaign members to identify their primary Accounts and includes those organizations in the list.

SFDC Campaign Contact Inclusion Options (Advanced)
This option is available when:
- Building Enhanced Contact Lists
- Building a contact-based trigger Workflow, such as Hand-off Hot Contacts to Sales.
When using a Salesforce Campaign as a filter within Enhanced Contact Lists or contact-based Workflows, you can refine your criteria by selecting between two distinct advanced Contact Inclusion Options to determine how contacts are pulled from a Salesforce Campaign:
-
Campaigns Members Only (Recommended): This setting is the primary recommendation for precision targeting. It ensures that the system only adds contacts that have been specifically and directly enrolled as members of the chosen Salesforce campaign.
-
Process:
- [SFDC Contact Campaign Member] -> [AdRoll Contact List]
- Retrieves and imports only the Contact Campaign Members explicitly enrolled in the selected campaign.
-
Process:
-
All contacts at enrolled accounts: Use this option if you are building your contact list using Salesforce campaign(s) that have account members. It allows you to expand your list to include all contacts within an organization that is already part of the campaign.
-
Process:
- [SFDC Account Campaign Members] → [All Associated Contacts] → [AdRoll Contact List]
- Identifies the Accounts enrolled in the campaign as members, scans your CRM for all related contacts, and imports every contact associated with those organizations.
-
Process:
-
Coworkers of enrolled contacts: Use this option if you're building a contact list using Salesforce campaign(s) that have contact members and you want to reach other contacts at their accounts. This is particularly useful for account-based strategies where you want to reach all contacts at a target account.
-
Process:
- [SFDC Contact Campaign Members] → [Associated Accounts] → [All Associated Contacts] → [AdRoll Contact List]
- Uses enrolled contact members as a "seed" to find their organizations and target the full buying committee at those accounts.
