What are Environments
By default, web channel campaigns serve ads to the users in your audience across Desktop, Mobile Web, and Mobile Apps. We recommend using the Automatic Environments default setting to cover 100% of users in your audience, regardless of the type of environment.
While not advised, you can exclude Desktop, Mobile Web, and Mobile App by turning off each specific Environment:
- Desktop: Larger screen real estate for more detailed ad content and different user behavior and intent compared to mobile platforms.
- Mobile Web: Broader reach across various websites and lower barrier to entry, and often more budget-friendly. Excellent for brand awareness campaigns and contextual targeting.
- Mobile Apps: Immersive ad formats like in-app interstitials.
Please note that this is an AdGroup setting, and you can have multiple AdGroups within one campaign, targeting different environments with different ads.
How to exclude Environments
Follow the steps below to exclude specific Environments for a web channel campaign:
- Edit or Launch a Web campaign.
- Scroll Down to the section called Configure AdGroup and click Edit.
- Within the AdGroup configuration section, scroll down to Environments.
- Toggle off Automatically target best Environments to manual.
- Uncheck the specific Environments you wish to exclude for this AdGroup. Please note that performance and reach will be impacted. While manual environment targeting offers flexibility, we recommend targeting all Environments automatically to cover 100% of traffic and maintain optimal performance.
- Click Done to save this setting.
