We want to make sure cold outbound emails don't get stopped by spam filters for obvious reasons, but there are so many things that affect email deliverability that it's hard to know without computer assistance.
Fortunately, some nice folks made mail-tester.com to help us test and score email deliverability. We recommend checking emails with this service before sending them to make sure they'll get to their intended destination--your contact's inboxes.
How do I run an email deliverability test?
Get started by grabbing the unique test email address that is automatically generated when you visit mail-tester.com. Copy the email address and make sure to keep the tab/window of mail-tester open during your test.
Now, login to RollWorks and go to 'Sales Automation' > 'Sequences' > 'Templates', and click Action then Preview beside the email you want to test. Below the email preview, you'll see a blank that says 'Send to this email address'. Copy your test address from the mail-tester and click 'Send Test'.
Go back to mail-tester and click 'Then Check Your Score'. You'll see a detailed listing of your deliverability score and the various factors that can affect it. Mail-tester will also give you some tips on how to improve your score, such as writing more text in your email or making sure your links work.
That's it! Now you can quickly test your emails before sending a sequence and ensure that your messages have the highest chance of survival and success.
