Sales Automation: SendGrid Integration Guide

Before we can start sending emails from your company’s email domain, you’ll need to create a SendGrid account or connect your existing SendGrid account to RollWorks.

Step 1: Create a SendGrid account here.  If you have a SendGrid account that you'd like to use skip to Step 2. 

Step 2: Generate a Full-Access API key for your RollWorks account and copy it. You'll be able to create your API key within your SendGrid account here.

Note: For security reasons, SendGrid cannot show you the same API key again so we'd recommend copy and pasting it somewhere safe for future reference. 

This article from SendGrid will also walk you through the steps to create your API key. We recommend naming your API key "RollWorks" so you'll know this was generated for your RollWorks account specifically.

Step 3: Navigate back to your Automation Settings section - Email Domain tab within your RollWorks account, push Send with SendGrid, add in your API key from SendGrid and push save.

Step 4OPTIONAL: With SendGrid, you are able to authenticate your domain which shows email providers (such as Gmail and Outlook) that SendGrid has your permission to send emails on behalf of your domain. 

The necessary files are listed both in your RollWorks account and in your SendGrid account

***Important - Once you add the CNAME records to your DNS host, return to the Sender authentication page  in Sendgrid 

Click on the domain

and click Verify.

If your files still are not verifying please schedule a call with your onboarding specialist.

After you have added the necessary CNAME files to your domain registrar (such as GoDaddy, Rackspace, or Cloudflare) contacts will no longer see the “via” message on your emails.

Step 5OPTIONAL: In order for RollWorks to track the clicks from your email templates- the first CNAME listed on your Email Domain tab will need to be added to your domain registrar. Here is an article that can walk you through RollWorks Click Tracking feature in more depth. 



Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to authenticate my domain before sending emails through SendGrid?

No, but it does come across as a more white label solution i.e via will be removed from the sender address. 


Is SendGrid Free to use?

SendGrid does have a free option that allows you to send 40,000 emails for your first 30 days, then send 100/day, forever. You can check out more pricing options here


Can I switch to Mailgun after I have already connected my RollWorks account to SendGrid?

Yes, if you push the unlink text underneath the API key you will be brought back to the screen where you can select Mailgun.
